psychotherapist, and teacher at a residential program for troubled teens for many years. My experience is thus both hands-on clinical and academic. I have worked with teens and parents individually, in group, and in family sessions. I know schools and programs across the country, from inside and out. Having studied and worked in Europe, I am also well acquainted with British and continental school systems, as well as the American International Schools.

My experience helping and strategizing with teens and families to get them all to accept and understand the change process is extensive. As co-author of Teens in Turmoil, and contributor of site visit reports to the Woodbury Reports, I have been able to share my knowledge and experience more widely.

The kids I work with are good kids like yours, lost in a morass of depression, anger, failure, drugs, alcohol, risk-taking behavior, rationalization, and intimidation. My job is to help you to help them to find their way again.

I have worked with teens and parents in turmoil for many years. I understand the pain you, your teen, and your family are currently experiencing, and I believe I can help you.

I will help you:

  • determine which program or combination of programs will be best for your teen
  • determine how long your teen may need to be enrolled in a program
  • deal with your teen if he/she refuses to go to the program
  • deal with your teen if he/she refuses to stay in the program
  • navigate the entire change process for both you and your teen

This is how I work:

An initial telephone consultation to determine if I can help you and your teen is free of charge.

I offer several different options:

  • One-time conferences in person or by telephone.
  • Full-year retainer service - working with you and your teen for one year facilitating the right process for change
  • I liaise with programs and keep you informed and advised about developments during the time your child is enrolled in a program.
  • Half-year retainer service - the same service provided as for the Full year, but terminating after six months.
  • I work with clients in my office or in their home
  • I will gladly travel to work with any family I can help
